Grand Marais Golf Course, Centreville IL- July 26, 2010

During match play competition between Par or Better Golf Club and Pin High Golf Club, Lawrence Netterville of St. Louis Missouri scored a hole-in-one on the 135 yard Par 3 14th hole using a choked down 7 iron. The shot was witnessed by Raymond Howard, Levester Heavens and Elton Sims. When Netterville was asked about the shot he said ” I knew it was a good shot as soon as I hit it. The shot felt good and it was going straight at the Pin, the the ball disappeared, I thought maybe I had knocked the ball though the green or the ball was behind Pin out of my line of sight. After I had looked every place that I thought the ball might have been, the guys said “look in the the hole man!” I looked in the hole and there it was, my 1st hole-in-one.” Netterville’s ace was the 1st hole-in-one on the new Par 3 14th hole at Grand Marais Golf Club.

Dateline: Sunday May 16, 2010, Grand Marais Golf Course, Centreville Illinois:

The final round of a grueling five week seeded single elimenation “Beat Down” Match Play Tournament ended in a climatic victory for Terry Broadway. Mr. Broadway emerged as champion after having endured five weeks of intense competition on five different golf courses. The final round was the essence of intense competition. Mr. Broadway’s opponent in the final round was three time Club Champion Alfred Lindsey, a great golfer and a tenacious competitor. Both players made some outstanding shots; however, the shot of the match came on the new 13th hole at Grand Marais Golf Course. After having pulled is tee shot through the left of the fairway Mr Broadway found himself in a precarious position, 145 yards from the pin on the high side of the fairway hitting into the short side of the hump back green that sloped downward away from his position, with the pin placed at the top of the green. Mr. Broadway hit a towering pitching wedge shot that hit the edge of the green, bounced twice then stopped 8 feet above the hole to the right of the pin. Mr. Broadway then trickled a curling putt in for birdie. After 18 holes of play, in which both players had played extremely well, the match was all square. In the sudden death playoff on the 140 yard Par 3 second hole at Grand Marais Golf Course, Mr Broadway stuck a shot 5 feet from the pin, he then curled in the birdie putt for the victory.

Tournament Results:

1st place-Terry Broadway

2nd place- Alfred Lindsey

3rd place-Richard Kreitner
