Also, the club honors Harold Murphy, Charles Johnson and David Young as early Charter Members. Over the years the Par or Better has grown from a small group of golfers dividing skins under a tree in Frank Holten State Park, to a 43-member Golf Club.

In 1982 Par or Better Golf was established as a not-for-profit corporation in the State of Missouri. In 1999 Par or Better Golf Club became a 501c3 Charitable organization. Members are active in the community, sponsoring a Junior Golf Program, the establishing the Jeanette Kimbrough scholarship fund through the St. Louis Community College and contributing to the Truman Restorative Center for the Elderly.

Currently, the members host an Annual Golf-a-thon to raise funds for the St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s Sickle Cell Anemia Fund. The Club seeks to attract like-minded individuals who believe in “the game” and its potential to model, nurture and teach future community leaders.
